ZOMG! IT’S HERE!!! iPHONE 4!

As you may, or may not know, today was the WWDC (World Wide Developer’s Convention). With this came the much anticipated release of the iPhone 4. Apple fan boys and fan girls all over “Ooo’ed” and “Ahhh’ed” at the awesomeness that Mr. Jobs revealed today. Here are some of the highlights…

APPS!

First, lets talk about the apps. Today we saw the release of Netflix for the iPhone. The application will be a free download but you will need a Netflix account. Also, iBook will be released for the phone and iPod touch. This app is like the iPad version and will support PDF files. Available now in the store is Guitar Hero! Now you can Rock out with your tapping fingers out. Price is listed at $2.99 for the rocking out application. Lastly, for all you adicts out there the store will now carry FARMVILLE! Now you can farm at home, on the train, and even during a bubble bath*. There’s even push notifications to let you know when your crops are needing some TLC.

CAMERA!

Wow, definitely some improvements and great new stuffs here. Apple has upgraded the camera to a 5 megapixel camera. Next to it there is now a LED flash. Focus and zoom features as well are there. There’s also a front facing camera! You can now have “FaceTime” with your friends and family over Wi-Fi (That’s right only wi-fi. Thanks AT&T).  Chat face to face, or change the view to the rear camera and show them what you’re seeing. This is not new technology, just good technology put to amazing use! Oh oh oh and wait! There’s more! 720p HD quality video! This awesome video can even be edited using iMovie on the phone. Film, crop, edit and add things to make your movie unique. Need to film in the dark? That new LED flash can stay on for night time filming (paging Paris Hilton).

ACTION!

This phone not only has cool applications and a potentially great camera, but it’s got some great hardware features. Prepare for the STATS: The phone now contains an A4 processor that is exclusive to Apple. It’s also smaller than the previous. Smaller processor makes room for a larger battery. That’s right. You can now get 40% more talk time with the new battery. The case itself is special grade stainless steel. The front and the back are covered with a special glass designed Apple. This gives the phone a sleek design. Speaking of the screen, it’s still same size but the resolution is much higher. The new screen displays 326 pixels per inch (The human can only see up to 300). This creates a very smooth look to images and fonts.

As far as the functionality of the phone, the OS has gotten a serious upgrade. Two major new features are multitasking and the ability to create folders. You can now run an application like Pandora in the background wile checking your mail and surfing the web. The folders feature allows you to organize your apps. Now you can open up more screens for more apps.

Maybe it’s just me, but I am UBER psyched for this phone! Release for the new phone is June 24th! Pre-orders can be made as soon as June 15th. If you’re like me, you’ll be that guy standing in line playing with your current iPhone while waiting to get your hands on the new one….or maybe I’ll just be lazy and pre-order and have it come to my house.

Here’s a great demo of what the phone looks like and what it does:

There’s always more to what I have here. If you would like to learn more, please comment. I would be more than happy to dive deeper into my nerdy fan girl-ness of Apple.

    Great Post

If additional background would help, then lets say that everything was fine until I recently updated to GEN D3 first release. After I updated, several of my game saves kept getting corrupt and this button swap also occured, so I downgraded back to GEN D2….but the button swapping remains.

  3. I don’t think it really has anything to do with the memory sticks or the reader itself because when the USB is plugged in the sticks, reader and unit seems to work just as it should but when it is unplugged the issue is again apparent.

    Very nice post! 😀
Maybe AT&T is only allowing FaceTime to use WiFi to try to stave off the data load that two-way video conferencing would add to thier network? That’s my guess anyway.

wow, you know..i was just saying to someone today, that while it’s cool, i don’t know how stoked i am about it..this post actually got me a little giddy about it..
one of my problems is the price tag though..i just upgraded with the 3Gs last time and i’m not up for an upgrade yet..the cheaper price is only for folks who are able to sign a new 2 year deal with ATT..but as i’m already IN a 2 year deal with ATT, i’ll have to pay full price for the dang thing.
    :(

do you have an iPad? how do you feel about it?

  6. Alana says:

Yeah I’m up for the the renewal, so I’m good to go. THough, I do understand the already being in the deal already. That happened to me for the 3Gs. I envied everyone at that time who had one.

As for the iPad, I don’t have one. I’d rather wait for next gen. I did get to play with one however, and I have to admit it’s quite smooth, and pleasant to play with. My only complaint it holding it. It’s slightly awkward. Though, when it comes to books, I’m old school. I built a library for a reason. :)
