Man Bug was three sheets to the wind, and I loved it.

  2. JD (Host) says:

uhyeeeaaahhhh he was lol. what a LUSH

  3. Ambush Bug says:

Yeah, I tipped it back a bit too much Sunday. Long weekend of rockin’ for me.

  4. Mazer Rackham says:

Good to hear the 3 of you back together. Oldtron shows were entertaining in their own right, but JD is the straw that stirs the drink. Plus, 2 hours of unedited OD and AB had me questioning my sanity. That’s not necessarily an insult.

Recently watched the DCAU flick Gods and Monsters and have decided that comics just aren’t for me anymore. You guys have always been generous with recommendations, but I just don’t have the disposable income to buy all the trades to read stories about characters I no longer recognize or have left me behind. Not said in the pejorative. Things change, which is fine. I just don’t have the wherewithal to keep nor the free time to invest as a working husband and father of 3, Maybe one day my sons pick up the comics mantle, but all they really care about are the movies,

So, I’ll keep listening and browse through my local libraries “teen” section (doesn’t make feel pervy AT ALL) and borrow what becomes available. Must credit the Cape May County library system on staying up-to-date on TWD trades. In the meantime I think I’ll drag my 70s/ 80s collection down from the attic and give them to my boys since they are essentially worthless. Why hide them away when my kids could be reading so many of the stories that are the basis for most of the movies?

Anyway, randomly stumbling across this podcast a few years ago rekindled my interest in the books and for that I thank you.

PS: Not sure if you’re aware of these guys but I would LOVE to hear a comics-type crossover with you and the guys from The Weekly Planet. Check them out. Quite funny.

  5. JD (Host) says:

Hey Thanks Mazer!!! It’s nice to know that my absence was noticed!

I hope you keep listening and weighing in, maybe we’ll discuss something that gets your interest back. But let me ask, it sounds like you might be talking more about the super-heroes that you grew up reading, I assume you don’t mean comics as a medium? More and more, I think that publishers like Image, IDW and the like are putting out comics more original and well worth your $$. I assume that since you mentioned TWD at your library that you aren’t out for good.

That makes me wonder if I should start doing quick little spotlights on books that have flown under the radar. Hmm.

I haven’t heard of Weekly Planet. I’ll check them out!!
Have you listened to MIKE AND TOM EAT SNACKS? That’s a funny one, not comics-related.

  6. Mazer Rackham says:

I’ll bookmark that, thanks. And I’ll continue listening.

Yeah, I’ll stay on the periphery by reading whatever happens to come through my library, like TWD. And if something you guys talk about grabs me I can request they buy the trades. Libraries are awesome. Stumbled on Kirkman’s possession trade that way.

It’s the superheros that have lost me. I just don’t recognize them anymore, though it’s nice that the stories I grew up with, for the most part, serve as the basis for the movies I spent my whole life waiting for.
