So in 64 issues and a couple annuals of Bendis’ Run, they had 15 kitchen table scenes, not quite as many you would think

  2. Rob Patey says:

    And dining room tables?

  3. Roland says:

Now sitting at tables sans food and talking…shit man they did a lot of that. or standing in a circle and talking, Benis likes talking, but there is plenty of action throughout his run as well. After skimming through his whole run it definitely has its peaks and valleys, a quite varied series.

  4. Mazer Rackham says:

Episodes like this make me glad I grew up on the relatively streamlined Marvel and DC of the 70s and 80s,

  5. Roland says:

So JD Secret Wars #3 answers most if not all of your questions.

  6. I did the math , the reading and the breakdowns, because once I started it was like The Davinci Code and I was able to divine some hidden message that Bendis was telling us,whether it was sitting at a table , standing around a table. drinks or coffee ,breakfast or dinner , hanging out or meeting, muffins or pizza. I’m sending it all to your earholes via the pink banner.

  7. Rob Patey says:

We put JD in back of the van this week and Podcasted ourselves: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/71849

  8. Roland says:

So Secret Wars…The Beyonders are the bad guys, they do grand experiments on the multiverse. they decide they want to destroy all the Universes at once to see what would happen. To do, so they create the Molecule Man, who shares a conscience across all of the multiverses and they set him to go critical at a certain time at the same time across the entire multiverse to bring them all down at the same time. Doom being the Nutjob that he is wonders why the New Avengers are fighting off an Incursion over Latveria a while ago and starts investigating whats up. Uses a Time Machine and comes upon Molecule Man, MM tells him what the Beyonders are up to, and he has to Prematurely kill MM in different Universes to fuck with the Beyonders plans. Doom Does so for like 8 years or something killing thousands of MM and pissing off the Beyonders. He creates a religion a nd makes himself a god to help complete his task. Dr Strange meanwhile sells his soul and takes over a group of sorcerers called the Black priests who are traversing the multiverse trying to figure out whats wrong, Strange gets captured by Dooms religious nuts and they take him to Doom and he explains what hes been doing to him. The two of them and MM go back to the dawn of the multiverse to fight the Beyonders when theyre young and something happens…but we dont know exactly what yet, but Doom and Strange do something to create Battleworld to thwart the Beyonders destroying everything. At the same time those two life rafts(which i guess can move through space and time or something) get away from the last two universes going bye bye and end up on Dooms created vision of a perfect world, with help from Strange…..I know right kinda nuts. But that’s the basics of what happened, still don’t know exactly what happened with Doom and Strange and theyre fight with the Beyonders, but I’m Sure Hickman will tell us.

  9. Roland says:

BTW i loved Bug & Douche Unchained, I really dig the long meandering episodes.

  10. Mazer Rackham says:

Um… new ep? I can’t go cold turkey on my poptards.

  11. Douche says:

New ep can be found on robpatey.com. Just me and Bug though, so terrible. JD will make good again soon.

  12. Mazer Rackham says:

    tks

  13. Homer Sexual says:

I liked the new episode even without JD, though i love JD. I was pleasantly surprised that you guys liked Midnighter and I agree that it’s good to have a comic with a gay character who isnt speechifying or archetyping is just being his badass gay self.

That’s why I also agree that Kelly Sue DeConnick is overrated, she makes Carol Danvers too much of ar role model making points and not enough as a real person.

That also makes me wonder… Love, love, love what Hopeless is doing with Spider-Woman, who is in her own book living life apart from Secret Wars, but is also in Secret Wars not doing her own thing. Whatever happens, I hope it doesn’t affect what is happening in that book. She is her own unique vocie there, contradicting your claim that all females at Marvel are the same character. Fingers crossed this continues after the reboot.
