Listened to Ep 244 on the way home to Cincinnati in the car today. Nearly crashed my car because I was laughing so hard at the bit about Jerry O’Connell’s brother Schleppy O’Connell, and his “mongoloid, irradiated head”. Jesus Christ you guys are so wrong sometimes. But God damn if it isn’t funny.

Question. I currently don’t read any Valiant books, but you guys constantly rave about Harbinger, and I want to give it a try. If I start at Harbinger Omegas 1, will I be totally lost? Do I need to start at Harbinger 1?

  2. JD (Host) says:

ha! yeah Douche is a jerk.

I would start at Harbinger 1, definitely…it builds and builds and it’s awesome.
    You won’t be sorry!

    (hopefully)

Waitwaitwait… not wanting to hear a person chomp on food and/ or the scraping of utensils on a plate makes one a “fucking purist”? Hadn’t we ended this debate amicably? And now new shots are fired? Why… why… I’m going to eat my way through the next podcast and see how YOU like it.

    Wither Matt Adler?

Anyway, another quality broadcast. I may not comment as much but still listen every week.

I think Gotham will ultimately fail for a couple of reasons; tinkering too heavily with Batman continuity (i.e. all the villains are 20 years older than Bruce Wayne) and the apparent need to speed-plot in this era of Scandal and Arrow needing to break necks with a plot twist before every commercial break. If there is any character/ mythology that requires a slow build it’s Batman’s, no?

Regardless, it’s still more entertaining than AoS. I’ll keep it in my Hulu queue and see how it progresses, but I just don’t see how it can hit the brakes now after throwing the kitchen sink at us in S1 Ep1.

And THANK YOU! I knew Ben McKenzie was channeling someone. Didn’t realize it was Russell Crowe until you guys mentioned it.

  4. I didn’t make that freak’s enormous skull, his parents and whatever the shit Rocky Dennis and the Elephantman’s skulls were plagued with are the culprits. Don’t blame me because I merely pointed out the slide in Sliders as his enormous skull and the dumb fuck who brought Rembrant back killed the thing. I just report…I’m not evil.

As for Valiant, sadly for any impact, especially in HARBINGER, it is issue 1 or bust. This is the Valiant double edge sword. Deep and evolving relationships that truly change over time. But change means nothing without context or certainly much less.

Think about the first time you walked in on your Dad giving your Mom anal. I mean I walked in only parents having sex lots, but the first time it was anal and I saw the pain on my Mom’s face I thought something was wrong. See, I didn’t have the past anal context to know that numbness would kick in soon and all would be right with the world.

  5. Dan says:

    LMAO at “Past Anal Context”

Just when I thought you couldn’t top “Irradiated, Mongoloid headed Schleppy O’Connell”, you present me with “Past Anal Context”.

    Well done, Sir. Well done.

Douche, you’re too much sometimes, I love it
