hey guys enjoy the show every week, really appreciate your many differing opinions and your coverage of books you both like and don’t.

one thing about this weeks episode. I don’t think james robinson ‘bailed’ on earth2. from interviews he seemed as surprised as anyone that he was off the book (he wouldn’t go into any detail maybe hoping to work for dc again in the future). he made it clear he had no idea what was going to happen going forward, but that he certainly had long term plans for the book.

so thanks for what you do and the time you put into it, I only read in trade but your weekly ramblings really do have some influence (for instance the valiant reboot, i’m reading harbinger and hugs& kisses)

and jd whats going on w/ the retrospectacles? are they posted elsewhere? no longer happening? you mentioned one a couple of weeks ago that never went up…. as someone who left comics for years (’91-’05)I enjoy your discussions of complete storylines.

again thanks for all of it

  2. Don’t want to speak fro JD, but those damn retrospectacles are taped at the worst fucking time imaginable.

They are done at the sister store to JD’s comic shop at 7:00 on Wednesdays. Optimous has gots a job damn it.

I do have a bunch of Retrospectacles that have been recorded, but haven’t had time to edit them…editing them can be a real project. I’m hoping to get some time after the holidays to get them going again.

Loved the podcast, as always. Coipel’s art was pretty messed up in Inhumanity and the writing was the serious, ponderous Bendis that I don’t like either. Not a good one.

The writer of Earth-2 seems to be ripping himself off, and Injustice is much better than Earth-2.

The Claremont doc sounds very interesting, and I agree with everyone who said the return of Jean Grey was a terrible idea, and why couldn’t she kill a planet, she was possessed, after all, like Cyclops killing Xavier.

  5. I talked with Tom Taylor a few times when I was reviewing his original book THE DEEP (pretty awesome stuff, here’s the review: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/61310#5)

As I said in my DEEP review, Tom has a true panache for alternate realities. I agree INJUSTICE is better that EARTH 2, but he can only ride that pony for so long. Eventually it will falter since it’s such a heavy reflection of the old universe and old personalities.

He needed a comfy dressing room to put on his big boy in continuity pants. I think this fits. My only complaint is WHEN he came in. They should have let Robinson close out this arc and let Tom start fresh with a new arc.
