I agree with the Thor Review. And Johnny there is some more insight to your disapproval to the development or Malekith’s lack of motivation. Come to find out that there is an additional 15-20 min going over Malekith’s backstory. The cut footage covers the death of his wife and children at the hands on the Asgardian’s as well as Odin revealing that the Asgardian’s were to blame for the turmoil against the Dark Elves. Of course the decision to remove the footage was from the studio who wanted the movie to be around the 2 hour mark. Perhaps if this footage had remained in the movie, then Malekith would have been a more developed villain.
