Not related to your show. Sorry.

I just read Superior Spider-man Team Up 3. It was good overall, but the issue pissed me off something fierce. You guys rag on Greg Land, and I get the thing about his women looking the same/porno-y. But the reason I don’t get pissed at his art, though I certainly don’t love it, is that it is nothing I could do with a photo.

This SSMTU though, the artist, Michael Del Mundo, definitely does shit with Photoshop I could do in my sleep. It’s a total shame, too. He has a real animated take on Spider-Man, and his colour select is great. But he has a load of backgrounds, I’d say more than 50% of the issue, which are just Photoshopped photos with smudging tools applied. It’s not like it takes zero skill, but it’s not particularly hard. The issue really conflicted me, since he is a skilled artist, but he also cuts corners. It’s comparable to the 90’s when artists just decided backgrounds were unimportant, but in this case, they decided they would just filter-blur-smudge theirs instead.

Am I too old-school? Am I too knowledgeable about Photoshop to make it enjoyable? Do the kids even notice?
