Oh, Morbius! What a sad character he is! Ever since he showed up in Amazing Spider-Man #101 (remeber spidey’s extra arms?) writers have been struggling to make him relevant…and they just don’t seem to find a good angle.

Personally, I think Morbius COULD be an interesting character, and even hold on to his own series. I love the quote “There are no bad characters, only uninspired writers…!”

What do you guys think? Is there an angle a writer could take to make Morbius relevant? I think there is.

  2. JD (Host) says:

I have NEVER EVER given a crap about Morbius! EVER!

    The poor fella.

I’m not saying that it’s impossible, but it would take a borderline miracle to make that guy interesting to me, for whatever reason.

  3. Emiliano says:

Morbius was ok in his first couple of appearances but, again. seems like no writer knows what to do with him. I have thought in the past of a way to make him interesting, but to tell you the truth, the concept is there, now you just need a good writer to take over him and make it work. Just remember what the then-unknown Moore did with Swamp Thing, and think of what writers like Lemire or Snyder could do for the character…

  4. JD (Host) says:

oh absolutely! I don’t doubt that a Snyder or a Moore or Joe Hill could make the character interesting.
I welcome the idea of ANY good comics from those guys, lol.

But this seems like a lazy attempt from Marvel to make a new series.

  5. Emiliano says:

Agreed. Morbius is the kind of comic they throw out there like wet toilet paper against the wall, see if it sticks. Someone must have figured that if it worked for that crapfest called “Twilight”, it might work for every vampire, right? It is sad that someone didn’t make the decision to put some serious thought and talent behind the character. Maybe they do have something planned and we just haven’t seen it yet but, judging by the firt issue, it is hard to imagine.
