Heard the review of the Goon. Hannah and I were huge fans up until a few years ago when, as you say, he just got mean. The fun has vanished from the Goon as Powell rails against the industry. It reads more like sour grapes and being pissed the majors won’t take him. Shame cause I really loved the Goon.

Btw the Olive Oil creature is Alice the Goon.

I cannot comment on this issue of the Goon as I have not picked it up yet. However, I highly recommend you do not let this experience with The Goon sour you on everything else. It’s absolutely excellent most of the time. Powell has created a world where he tell almost any kind of story. From surreal poop jokes to heart wrenching drama. It’s great stuff and his artwork is some of the best on the market.

I also happen to agree with his point-of-view about the big two. I stopped reading the big two a long time ago, so when Powell rails against them it’s pretty much him preaching to the choir and I’m all hallelujahs! and amen brothers! So, I can understand you would get defensive as readers of the big two. Hopefully, this comic will help sway some of those who are unsure they want to continue supporting the big two.

@Miskatonic: Let me know what you think of Goon when you DO pick it up!

I’ll definitely check out at least the first trade of Goon, since you say it’s the goods.

Like I said, I don’t disagree with a lot of the points he’s making about the Big Two, but it’s also a lot of generalities he’s making, and he doesn’t really do it all that WELL.
